Tutoring

I know we have only been here one day, but classes are already exciting me! Upper level Potions! Could anything be more exciting? We get to think about the properties and what we're doing even more than before. I love the way Belby teaches the class. I'm not sure if we will have fewer explosions though, given the hard nature of it. But even if I end up in the Hospital Wing sometime it'll be worth it. That's what real potions is! Exciting. I know some people think it's long and boring, but it's exciting!

Oh, and I thought I'd post tutoring notices.

I'm not expensive. I'd just like to earn some money to spend at Hogsmeade and on Grace. Let me know!

Chemistry and plays

Well, we may not be allowed to do magic at home, but I've been doing Chemistry. I'm nowhere close to dad's students (they're beyond the equivalent of NEWT level), and I've only been doing it every summer, bu I've been learning different kinds of reactions. Today I learned how to balance a Redox reaction. It's fun. I get to count electrons and stuff.

Oh, and my mother got a block of tickets to go to the Globe this Sunday and told me to invite friends. Grace, want to come? And anyone else who wants to come who can come to London is welcome (well the first four after Grace who say they want to). I could meet you in the Leaky Cauldron early. And you already have experience dressing like muggles!

Summer is so much fun.

I don't think I've seen my mother so happy...

Five; Oh man AWESOME

I found a Chem nerd! (sort of like a Potions nerd except muggle). He doesn't speak much English, but we communicated a lot through hands and writing down of chemical stuff - it's all the same in structure even in different languages. I spent three hours today discussing Organic Chemistry. I hadn't done that in a while. It was so much fun!

And Grace, a stripper? A Russian stripper? That's fascinating.

Vier; Was I the only one who had a good night?

So a lot of bad stuff seemed to have happened last night. Anyone want to make a list of good things that happened?

1. Watching people sing and dance - whether they could or not - was fun.

[Private to Claw Boys]

So Grace and I left early, after her performance of "Insatiable." Man, talk about pure torture. I hope none of you were staring at her! Anyway, we went back to my room and, uh, had a lot of fun. IT WAS NOT THAT. So don't even suggest that it was. But it was really wonderful, one of my favorite nights on this trip so far.

How were your nights?

Drei; Private to Claw Boys - HELP

So, in case any of you hadn't been able to see the obvious, the very obvious, I like Grace. Since like, Spring last year? Anyway, I need help. She, um, I think she knows I like her, but I don't think she likes me. But I'm not sure. It's not like I know things...about girls anyway. So I need your help.

What should I do?

Zwei; Muggle-ifying magic things.

So, since we're going to have to be talking to muggles, I decided to write an entry of terms to use for talking with them. If there's anything I haven't given that you want to know how to muggle-ify, just comment and I'll add it.

Classes
Acient Runes - Old English. This was the English of 1000 years or so ago. The oldest English work is Beowulf (for muggles anyway), and it's written in Old English.
Arithmancy - Math/Calculus. Calculus is more advanced. If you meet someone who knows it, just vaguely refer to integrals and derivatives and try to change the subject.
Astronomy - This is about the only one that will be the same. Their technology is just...different.
Charms - Hmm, this one is hard. I always try to avoid talking about it with my cousins. If you absolutely have to, ... Physics I suppose is the way to go, I'd say.
Care of Magical Creatures - Zoology, which is the study of animals. It's a bit better for the hands on aspect than Biology.
Defense Against the Dark Arts - Martial Arts, but I'd not really mention this as a school class or people might think you go to a very weird school.
Divination - Er...psychology. Just don't talk about using tea leaves to predict stuff. Instead you're basing it off understanding what humans are like, if you have to use 'prediction.'
Herbology - Horticulture! It's the study of plants. Theirs just are non-magical.
History of Magic - History. That one is pretty easy.
Muggle Studies - Multicultural course. It's about learning about other cultures!
Potions - Chemistry. And when we make them, that is called lab, for muggles.
Transfiguration - Please do not say you change a pin into a needle. Anyway, Engineering is what you can say it is. That is basically...building stuff and designing it. For example, engineers designed the airplane we flew in.

Other
Quidditch - Football. Be warned, Germans are famous for loving it. The game has one ball that is kicked with the feet There is a goal (two posts to shoot between) and one goalie. There are other positions and such, but they all run around and kick the ball. They aren't as different as in Quidditch.
Port keys - Airplanes, what we flew on.
Apparation - Er...just don't mention it. Maybe planes or trains.
Floo Network - The underground, AKA the U-Bahn here.

Eins

So Germany sounds fun! And hi Carnaby! We're rooming together. It should be fun!

I'm not so sure about the sports days, but the "making a muggle friend" ought to be easy. It's not like muggles are that different when it comes to befriending. And free days, those are good!
